Highly Linkable - links you need and deserve - Nonprofits and their problems
One of my pet peeves is how the nonprofit (aka, not-for-profit) sector gets more respect and less scrutiny than it deserves. Here are some recent links substantiating that argument.
In what can easily be read as just a great post on board governance, Holden Karnofsky explores the many facets what is weird about nonprofit boards and what makes a good board member. Also, don’t miss his prior post that spawned it regarding general principles of ideal governance.
Nathan Goodman how nonprofit organizations problematically lack market feedback in this post. As he points out here, he is not the first to recognize this.
Always a great source on the topic, Arnold Kling discusses the need for accountability and authority including in distributed network systems. Perhaps putting everything on the blockchain might not be utopia, hmm?
