Highly Linkable - links you need and deserve - homelessness
I believe fairly strongly (with high conviction) that to properly address the problem of homelessness one needs to begin with pragmatism (we can’t just declare homelessness to be illegal and expect this is a solution), compassion (we need to think about the homeless as equally-valuable, rights-bearing people like you and I who may likely need some assistance) and reasonableness (we have to hold people reasonably accountable for their actions, decisions, and behavior).
It is with this type of mindset that Scott Alexander reviewed Michael Shellenberger’s San Fransicko. Of course coming from ACX, that mindset is not surprising at all. I believe it is a balanced piece that greatly adds to the conversation; hence, the linking. Also adding to the conversation are his highlights from the comment section of ACX on the same.
To YIMBY or not to YIMBY, per chance to MIMBY lest one slip into NIMBY. That is the question Scott Sumner poses in this post that explores aspects of all three of my criteria outlined above.
