Partial List of Things That Should Be Obvious But Somehow Aren't
We know this yet don't live this.
As we approach the annual resolution time of the year, perhaps these are good reminders for all of us.
Saying you’ll do it is not the same as doing it.
Related to the above: Intentions matter when coupled with action. Intentions without action are meaningless. Actions without intention are definitionally involuntary and therefore meritless.
Truly being there > just being there > not being there > should not have been there
Related to the above: Being “in the moment” is a poor excuse for unavailability and neglect of obligations.
Your choices are your only priorities that ultimately matter. All other “priorities” are either self deception or outward lies.
A good idea poorly executed is a failure. A bad idea well executed is a tragedy.
An insincere compliment is a lie.
Showing love and giving love requires sacrifice, and that which is sacrificed must be a cost to you the giver. If others suffer from your love, you are not truly loving.
As difficult as it is, the pride you may feel from doing good must be subordinate to the good act itself. The danger is always that it becomes the ends actually pursued.
I’m as guilty of violating these as the next guy.
